Our history

The Hotel “La Luna “ is located inside the city walls, in a secluded small square “Corte Compagni” which adjoins the principal street : Via Fillungo.

The hotel’s position is one of the highlights of this structure where, in the ancient times was a historical palace of medieval origin.
From authentic sources such as ancient manuscripts, it has been revealed that the origin of the hotel was an antica Locanda di festa ( ancient inn for fun ) where residents and non residents of the small contrado ( district ) of Lucca enjoyed their rest day or in daily strolls.

In particular traces have been found of the existence in importions of the book “ Un Viaggio in Toscana ( Travelling in Tuscany ) by Georg Christoph Martin ( crudely defined as the “ Sassone “ ).

In Martin’s personal diary dating back to 1758 in which he mentions that he has stayed at “ La Luna “.
In 1966 the Barbieri family purchased La Luna and since then maintained the original hospitality as afforded to visitors to Lucca.
Over the course of years obviously they has been many restorations and modernization utilizing avant-garde technical equipments achieving a relaxing ambience for our guests, always maintaining the traditional family aspect.

Our personnel is attentive to the requirements of our clients and the reception desk is attended 24 hrs per day to give satisfaction to the guests.
